Hello and Welcome to 5th grade!

My name is Kelly Baum, and I teach Math, Science, and Social Studies. Mrs. Litman teaches Reading, Writing, and Word Work. This will be our first year teaching together, and we are so excited to start our "teaching team" journey!! It is going to be an incredible year here at Elmwood Academy with the Class of 2030!

This will be my 16th year at MASD!  I began my career in 3rd grade and have spent the last 13 years teaching 5th graders! I absolutely love this age group and know it so well!  In

addition to learning math, science, and social studies, we strive to build strong character, cultivate self-sufficiency, develop a strong work ethic, and practice responsibility and independence to prepare them for middle school and beyond. 

Personally, I have been married nearly 32 years to my wonderful husband, Roy. We have three amazing, grown children. Our oldest, Ben, and his wife, Caitlyn, live in Pittsburgh; my hometown; which, of course, means I’m a huge Pirates, Steelers, & Penguins fan! Our daughter, Sarah and her husband, Alex, live in the district and just had our first grandbaby, Sophie Marie on July 2nd! We are crazy in love and thankful they live only 5 minutes from Elmwood!! They also have the most adorable almost 4 year old foster son that we absolutely adore! Our youngest son, Sam, just accepted a position with Bayer in Pittsburgh and just moved back to the Burgh at the end of July! We are truly blessed!
