Preserving the Past to Understand the Present

The mission of the Mechanicsburg Area School District archives is to preserve the public documents that can be used by professional historians, students of history, and those individuals interested in the legacy of the school district and the role that public education has played in the community.

Some of the earliest known documents in the collection include:

• The Records of the Mechanicsburg High Alumni Association (1883)

• A commencement invitation (1892)

• An alumni banquet invitation (1893)

• A picture of the members of the class of 1894 (1894)

• A music program booklet (1904)

The collection also includes a collection of yearbooks dating back to the first one issued in 1920 and an incomplete selection of school newspapers and handbooks.

The documents are available to individuals researching the history of the school district. An appointment can be made by calling

The collections, which contains almost 4,500 items, has been entered into a searchable database.

Anyone with a research question or wishing to make a donation to the archives is encouraged to call the Archives.
