Car-Rider Arrival/Dismissal 

The car-rider arrival and drop off areas are in the back of our building. This is the safest way to drop your student off. Attempting to drop students off at the front of our building unnecessarily forces them to cross a bustling Elmwood Avenue and creates traffic congestion.  

• All cars shall enter from Elmwood Avenue into the side parking lot by the main gym. Proceed straight, following signs around the back parking lot.  

• As you get to the loop, form two lanes, following the signs. 

  • Transporting 5th graders? Use the right lane.          

  • Transporting 4th graders? Use the left lane.

  • Transporting both 4th and 5th graders? Use the right lane. (Think rounding up) 

• Cars will remain in their lane before arriving at the respective drop off/pick up zone at the sidewalk to drop their child off starting at 7:30 a.m. or picking up starting at 2:25 p.m.

  • 5th grade Drop Off/Pick up Zone = outside library; exit onto Shepherdstown Rd. 

  • 4th grade Drop Off/Pick up Zone = outside rear veranda entrance; exit right onto Elmwood Ave. 

Thank you for waiting until after 2:15 to enter the car rider line for dismissal. Our Physical Education classes occasionally use the back parking lot area until this time, causing us to keep our gate closed until then.
